Kunnskapsforlaget: Ord, ord, ord

Editorial design and illustration for the publisher Kunnskapsforlaget and the book “Ord, ord, ord”. The book is a collection of words with an exciting background, sometimes with a surprising origin. It is the study of the history of words, their origins, and how their form and meaning have changed over time. The work is done while at Uniform.

The concept of the cover is to let the actual meaning of the word be illustrated with typography. The hardcover, with a bookcloth
on the spine and the title on a label, mimics old dictionaries and encyclopedias.

On top of the design is a tag. Grafitti and street artists are some of the few people that still communicate
through handwritten language.

The layout is inspired by magazine design with large titles. Some words are illustrated with old-style drawings, mimicking the traditional encyclopedia.
