Identity, interior, signage system and art direction for Norway’s largest film studio. The logo’s white square creates a storyboard, a space for creativity, which encourages the user to interact. The name also implies a full-scale film production. People’s notion of film and commercials is an escape, a twist on reality, action and colourful special effects. The photos taken for the identity by Filippo Minelli are frozen moments where the future is yet to be revealed, and it makes the viewer engaged and curious. The signage system is inspired by the film studios of Hollywood. Detailing of custom made typography for logo in cooperation with Magnus Rakeng. Portfolio photos by Mathias Fossum.

Metronet

Identity, interior, signage system, web design, illustrations and artwork for Metronet, a strategic consultancy that delivers services within SEO, PPC, development & design, e-commerce, social media and web analytics to a wide range of clients. The identity reflects the name, its references and expectations. The colour scheme is from DOS and the first computer screens and the type is OCR-B, made to facilitate the optical character recognition operations by specific electronic devices. The illustration for the identity is an abstract global system of interconnected computer networks between people. The artwork is abstractions of Metronet’s skills and knowledge without becoming too concrete and limiting. Portfolio photos by Mathias Fossum.

Rom 13

“Rom 13” (Room 13) is a book portraying both celebrities and former criminals, who tell a story about one important choice that changed their lives. The book is a collaboration between the Norwegian Red Cross and The Thief, a brand new hotel situated at Tjuvholmen. The aria where the hotel is situated was a place where criminals and prostitutes were hanged. Work in Progress edited the book, as well as providing concept, art direction and design work.

All photos are taken by Marcel Leliënhof in the same small hotel room of 30 square meters. Photographs for the book were also exhibited at an old harbour warehouse, Skur 13 (shed 13). Money from sales of the book and the exhibition will go directly to an organisation within the Red Cross which helps former criminals back in to everyday life. Many thanks to project manager at The Thief, Siri Løining, for helping to realize the project.

Spread on former politician Arne Treholt, who in 1984 was convicted for espionage and sentenced to 20 years in prison. He is now a free man, and has always claimed he was partly framed by the Norwegian government. The illustration is showing him either as a villain or a hero, depending on the viewer’s interpretation. The Fiigenschou Codex

The book is a comprehensive collections of works by artist Jan Terje Rafdals alias, Fiigenchou. He is an imaginary cat painter from the Baroque period. The artist has worked for more than 10 years on the project, and the book consists of a collection of art works, short stories and sketches. The designs have the same references as the artist, from the 17th and 18th centuries, in variations of both fonts and sizes, a mixture of justified and centred type, ornamental wood blocks, title pages and more. It also contains an original etching from the artist. The finished book is a result of a close cooperation between Jan Terje Rafdal and Work in Progress, and the workflow has been organically developed with specially made text and illustrations to enhance the storytelling. The book received a nomination at the Annual Norwegian Design Awards, Visuelt.

Maaemo awarded for Design Excellence

The Award for Design Excellence is a leading award for design in Norway and is given to both manufacturers and designers who have cooperated on the development of products.
The award is granted in recognition of the successful use of design as a strategic tool in product development and market communication. Maaemo recived The Award for Design Excellence from The Norwegian Design Council in two categories: Visual communication and The Environmental Award. The Environment Award is presented to the company and the designer that has developed a product or a solution that can demonstrate material environmentally-friendly properties in a lifecycle perspective. This means that due regard has been taken to environmental aspects in all phases of the design process. Only one Environmental Award is presented each year.

Maaemo received two stars from the Michelin Guide

Maaemo is the first Nordic restaurant to enter the guide with two stars on the first try. Two stars means the restaurant offers “exceptional cuisine, worth a detour.”

When it opened at Grønland in Oslo in late 2010, Maaemo was first restaurant in Norway where all the food is made from only organic and natural ingredients.

We were so lucky to be asked to present The Apartment at Pecha Kucha Night in Oslo on the 1st of March. 20 slides in 20 seconds flew by. We talked about the tree previous exhibitions, and the upcoming with Knut Bry. Let’s hope it was enjoyable for the audience.

Det er 2 kontorplasser ledig der du deler lokale på 50 kvadratmeter med 2 designere og en gründer innenfor økologi. Studiofellesskapet er nabo med 0047 OSLO, et internasjonalt orientert visningssted for kunst og arkitektur (http://0047.org/). Hele bygget består av ulike kreative foretak som skaper et dynamisk og tverrfaglig miljø hvor nye koplinger og synergier oppstår. Lokalene ligger sentralt på Grønland, Schweigaardsgate 34, i 2.etasje i et gammelt industrilokale. Det er over 4 meter takhøyde og med store vinduer som gir meget gode lysforhold. Leie av plass inkluderer tilgang til et stort, flott møte- og lunsjrom, moderne kjøkken, toalettfasiliteter, printer/skanner, bredbånd samt vask av lokalet. Plass i kontorfelleskap er kr. 3000 eks. mva. per person per måned.
